Illustration of lead singer John Lydon, at the time (1975 – 1978) with the band, The Sex Pistols. The Pistols were famed for their strong antiestablishment values, as well as being the biggest spark in starting the punk rock movement in London, England. Johnny Lydon joined the band in August 1975, and would soon be known as Johnny Rotten (presumably due to the appearance of his teeth). When they first started the band was surrounded in controversies due to some of their beliefs, lyrics, and offstage problems. While their start would only last a short time, it completely changed the direction of Rock and Roll and music in general.
